Prescription Drug

Indications

For the treatment of the following innfections caused by susceptible microorganisms:

• Skin and skin structure infections including boils, abscesses, carbuncles, furunculosis, impetigo, cellulitis, infected wounds, infected burns, protection for skin grafts, and infected skin conditions including ulcer, eczema and acne
• Respiratory tract infections including pneumonia, lung abscess, empyema, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsilitis, peritonsillar abscess, otitis media and externa
• Other infections such as osteomyelitis, enterocolitis, endocarditis, urinary tract infections, meningitis, septicemia, and septic arthritis

As a prophylactic agent during major surgical procedures (e.g., cardiothoracic and orthopedic surgery) when appropriate. 

Parenteral usage is indicated where oral dosage is inappropriate.
