Metronidazole (Dazomet®) 500 mg tablet

Treatment of the following infections caused by susceptible microorganisms: 

  • Prophylaxis and prevention of postoperative infection due to anaerobic bacteria, particularly species of Bacteroides and anaerobic streptococci.
  • Treatment of septicemia, bacteremia, peritonitis, brain abscess, necrotizing pneumonia, ostemyelitis, puerperal sepsis, pelvic abscess, pelvic cellulitis, and post-operative wound infections from which pathogenic anaerobes have been isolated,
  • Urogenital trichomoniasis, both symptomatic and asymptomatic
  • Amebiasis
  • Giardiasis
  • Balantidiasis and Blastocystis hominis infection
  • Vaginal infections including bacterial vaginosis
  • Acute ulcerative gingivitis
  • Acute dental infections (e.g., acute pericorontis and acute apical infections
  • Anaerobically-infected leg ulcers and pressure sores
  • Treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection associated with peptic ulcer as part of triple therapy.
Metronidazole (Dazomet®) 500 mg/100 mL (5 mg/100 mL) IV Infusion
  • Prophylaxis and prevention of postoperative infection due to anaerobic bacteria, particularly species of Bacteroides and anaerobic streptococci.
  • Treatment of septicemia, bacteremia, peritonitis, brain abscess, necrotizing pneumonia, ostemyelitis, puerperal sepsis, pelvic abscess, pelvic cellulitis, and post-operative wound infections from which pathogenic anaerobes have been isolated,
  • Treatment of intestinal and extraintestinal or invasive amebiasis including amoebic liver abscess
  • Treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection associated with peptic ulcer as part of triple therapy.
