When you're chilling out at the beach or trying to finish your shift at the office, the last thing you want to feel are the familiar symptoms of a fever. It's uncomfortable, as fever generally makes you feel weak, plus, you can get an unhealthy dose of headache and muscle aches. If you're starting to get sweaty and hot, maybe it's time you learned how to fight back the fever.
Get That H20
Hydration. You’ve probably heard it uttered so many times but it really is an important thing to do daily. Not just for fever, but for general healthy lifestyle choices. Especially these days when the weather turns humid. Drink 8 to 12 glasses a day as this keeps your body feeling fresh and well hydrated, especially if you have a temperature. Try sports drinks to get hydrated and to replenish some minerals as well. If you want a quick treat, eat some cold grapes. It’s a tasty and soothing way to get some hydration.
Ditch the Instant Cup
Throw away that cup of instant noodles and learn how to cook a delicious bowl of chicken soup. There actually is some factual evidence that homemade chicken may act like a form of medicine. So forget about the packaged and powered soups. Making one with actual chicken meat and bones and vegetables nourishes the body and may support healthy immune functions.
Find those cool and quick cooking vids on YouTube, sharpen your culinary skills, get cooking, and start the healing. Slurp in that broth and beat that fever.
Take Tea Time
Drinking herbal teas like yarrow, elderflower, and ginger are known to help lower your temperature and fight fever. But one other recommendation we can suggest is green tea. It contains six types of antioxidants known as catechins. You can find different types of catechins within the stem, leaf veins, and buds of the camellia sinensis plant. This makes green tea rich in antioxidants and an effective antiviral agent.
Draw Out the Fever with Apple Cider Vinegar
We know. It will probably make you wince as you smell it. But if you ask your lola, there's a fair chance that she will recommend using this old technique to help "draw out" the fever.
Soak a couple of small towelettes in diluted apple cider vinegar. Remember this ratio: 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water. When you're ready, place the towelettes on the forehead and stomach. Some people also add a cup of apple cider vinegar to their warm bath. And there are even others who also soak a cloth with the mixture and then carefully wrap these around the soles of the feet.
When you have a fever, there are certain minerals that are lost. Apple cider vinegar is rich in minerals and can help you gain back some of them.
Power up with Paracetamol
The easiest and most convenient way of course is to pop a pill. If you're sporting a cold or flu and you're starting to get a fever, take Paracetamol (Biogesic). Just make sure to use it in a responsible manner and always consult your doctor on its frequency. But all in all, it's still quick to use, safe for both children and adults, and you can bring it anywhere—the beach, the mountains, or even in your front pocket while at the office meeting with your boss. Now, isn't that a good remedy?
Paracetamol is the generic name of Biogesic.
IF SYMPTOMS PERSIST, CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR
