Prescription Drug
Indication
Treatment and control of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with enlarged prostate to:
- Cause regression of the enlarged prostate, improve urinary flow and alleviate symptoms associated with BPH
- Reduce the risk of acute urinary retention

Reduce the need for surgery including transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and prostatectomy
Note: Finasteride is not indicated in the following:
- Patients who are candidates for immediate surgery
- To reduce the risk of developing prostate cancer in healthy men.
