It is recommended to take Calciumade® twice a day after meals to meet the recommended daily intake. Remember to take only one tablet a time for better calcium absorption, since our body can only absorb 600mg of Calcium per intake.
Calciumade® is recommended for adults 18 years old and up. Getting enough calcium while young is important to keep your bones strong especially during early years while the bones are still growing. People reach their maximum bone density until 30s and gradually lose bone mass after. The earlier you invest in your bone and joint care, the better.
Yes, Calciumade® is advised to be taken by pregnant and breastfeeding women. The baby's bones start to form early in pregnancy and develop rapidly during the 3rd trimester. If the mom doesn't have adequate amount of calcium, the baby will draw it from her bones, putting the mom at risk for bone health concerns later in life.

BREASTFEEDING:Calciumade® is advised to be taken by breastfeeding/lactating moms as calcium is transferred from the mom to the baby through breastmilk at a rate of 250mg to 300mg/day and as high as 1,000mg/day. Over the period of 6 months of lactation, the mom can have 6% total body calcium loss which can make her at risk for osteoporosis and bone problems and discomfort later in life.
Calciumade® is classified as an over-the-counter drug by FDA. It contains 600mg elemental calcium, 400 IU Vitamin D3 to help strengthen bones, and minerals - zinc, manganese, magnesium, to help make joints flexible.
As with any medication or supplements, there is a possibility of hypersensitivity reaction to any of the components. Gastrointestinal disturbances may also occur such as constipation, diarrhea and nausea. Hypercalciuria and hypercalcemia may occur if ingested in large doses or if with renal impairment.
HYPERTENSION
Calcium supplements are generally safe and are not likely to affect your blood pressure. But if you have medicines for hypertension, calcium supplements may interfere with your medications. Please consult your doctor to check if calcium supplements are appropriate for your condition.
KIDNEY STONES
Risk for developing kidney stones may increase with intake of large doses of calcium. It would be best to take calcium supplements at doses recommended by your healthcare provider. Also the risk for kidney stones is more related to high oxalate content in the diet and low fluid intake, rather than with just calcium intake.
DIABETES
Calcium and Vit D may be beneficial in diabetes and prediabetic conditions. Calcium and Vitamin D supplements may help in glucose control or insulin sensitivity. Diabetics may also be prone to osteoporosis, a condition where calcium and vit D may also be beneficial. Please consult your attending physician regarding management of your diabetes and if calcium supplements are appropriate for your condition.
THYROID PROBLEMS
Calcium supplements may interfere with absorption of thyroid hormone treatment when taken together. It is advised that you do not take thyroid replacement together with calcium supplements. It is better to take calcium supplements at least 4 hours before or after taking thyroid hormone supplements. Also thyroid problems may differ, you may be hyper or hypothyroid. Please consult your doctor to check if calcium supplements are appropriate for your condition.
OSTEOPOROSIS
Osteoporosis may benefit from calcium and vitamin D supplementation. However, supplement requirements may vary depending on the severity of your condition. Please consult your doctor on the proper dose of calcium and vitamin D required for your condition.
